SELF DEFENSE

Yoshinkan Aikido is a natural medium for teaching self-defense because aikido does not focus on subduing others using brute strength. Instead, you use joint locks, holds, and throws to subdue attackers, so your body size doesn't matter. This martial art focuses on assessing situations clearly and using your strengths to keep yourself safe. Your intelligence, quickness, and other attributes are just as important as physical size in aikido.
