O Sensei and Gozo Shioda Shuharikan Dojo is the internationally certified home of Yoshinkan Aikido in St. Paul, Minnesota.  We study and teach the classical (and applied) form of aikido developed by Soke Gozo Shioda, one of the first students of O-Sensei Morehei Ueshiba.

There are said to be 150 different schools of aikido; Yoshinkan is considered one of the "hard" styles in this family.  The Tokyo Riot Police are required to study Yoshinkan and numerous police forces and many Defensive Tactics instructors base their method on it.  Nevertheless, the training methods are progressive at the speed desired by the student, who begins individualized training one-on-one with a certified instructor.  New students are never required by sensei to work beyond their comfort level.  The intention of training is personal development: of balance and efficient use of power, physically, psychologically, and philosophically.  Adults, children, specialized groups for self-defense and enforcement requirements are welcomed.
